I was down and out...I had performed badly yet again in my exams..it was twelfth standard..the time when i should be studying well......but no..i was even below mediocre...my parents told me that they wouldn't be able to afford a payment seat...whcih meant no choice but to study!!!
:(
And there was a dream i carried in my heart..i wanted to get into the IIT...those days i liked physics..i have watched the stars in the sky even as a kid..a very small kid......it used to open a world of dreams to me.....but i didnt take up coaching for IIT..i had to take tuitions instead for my twelfth..evrybody took up the tuitions...there was that kind of pressure .... and in that pressure my IIT dreams where getting crumbled......
But I held on..like i always do..i held on to my dream..i took up corresponding coaching for IIT...and attended every mock test...and gave it my best shot...
december was my cousin bro's wedding..and jan was IIT-JEE screening... I had fun at cousin bro's wedding... and we had pre-board exams right after that...there was no way i was going to be able to study anything at all for my IIT-JEE......
I made a choice then..it was just pre-board..i neglected school work and studied up for IIT....but not that much..the lazy me could never work hard enough..i may be studied for like 4 hours a day...
:)
and then i wrote the screening test....the day of the IIT-JEE screening, there was a mock exam for twelfth students..something like the board exams ...many people took that up to see where they stood.... not me.... i was busy chasing dreams...dreams too huge for me.....
:)
and as could be guessed..i gave my best shot to the screening test and my worst shot for the pre-board exams......
i got poor marks.....right before my board exams......
and the IIT-JEE screening results were out....those days, the internet was not that common..so there was this phone number..on dialling that number and then pressing the register number, the result would be announced...
I was too nervous..this was a dream I had nurtured..despite knwoing that it may not be fulfilled....I had held on to it......
My sis dialled the number followed by my register number.....and came the result.....
"did not clear"
My heart sank.....now i had two problems..poor marks in school and a lost dream.....
I was low..way too low....
a week went by..i was sulking and walking home with my head hung low....I had to tell my marks at home..i was going to be a disappointment to my parents......
As soon as i entered home...I saw smiling faces..my father, mother and sis...they were so happy...
I wondered what could be the cause..and my sis showed me a brown envelope..i opened it to see
"Congratulations on clearing the IIT-JEE Screening test".....and so on
Now how did that happen?? My sis had apparently entered the wrong registration number at that time...
i had cleared
I had actually cleared!!!!!!!
I still have that joy neatly bundled in a corner in my heart...beacuse that was the first time in my life that i learnt that ,If I held on to a dream ..God will let me have it...it was a dream too big for me.....but my prayers were answered..i am not IIT meterial..but i dreamt......
Ofcourse I didnt clear the main exam..never went to IIT....... but i still cherish that brown envelope that taught me that no dream is impossible!

Although I was a commerce student, I also had a dream of entering IIT.
I did enter IIT to attend Sarang :-)
I also cleared the screening test :) and hey a hi-fi me too have that cover till tihsdate...my dream dates back to my 8th std when I started to prepare with this "Target IIT".....I had nurtured my dream for 4 long years and there I was on cloud nine when I actually cleared the screening test..:) but failed miserably in chemistry in main test..I was pretty sure i wouldnt clear and i was rite..
but I am now assuring myself that I can achieve atleast something in this life :) i think that is the power of IIT preperation :)
Hehehe, my dreams were different whether i will attend ITI or not:-)
IIT's gain..crescent's loss
ROTFL :)
That was very nicely put, "..no dream is impossible"
true...and even if you fail you can be proud of the fact that you atleast failed in the pursuit of something you dreamt about rather than not trying at all.
Btw did you read "the Alchemist" yet?
M.

@johnny boy
yep..but i dont think too many people would really like to hear me sing.....
anyways..no harm trying.....
Yes Monu, no dream is impossible.
Dreams like this can be achieved,but what about dreaming for a perfect partner and it doesnot happen and things like that which always remains a dream. Hold on to your dreams and never get disappointed even if it does not happen. For disappointment is worse than losing a dream, it affects your entire life.
@af
even that will happen....i beleive that there may not be a person like a perfect life partner...
beacuse i have this strange concept of flaws identifying a person and may love can correct it...
anyways..i am optimistic....
if the so-called perfect life-partner does not chose to enter ones life..there must be some one better waiting....
:)
You are absolutely right monu :-) I had always dreamt of a love marriage and had even imagined about the way I would lead my life with that lover.. But everything perished when my parents told me that i have to get married now or wait for umpteen years coz of my horoscope (sevvai dhosham). I am married for 5 months now and I don't regret marrying the gal I got than I was dreaming. Though we are so different individuals, we are able to understand each other and lead a great life together. So never stop dreaming. No dreams make one's life lifeless.
@mohanraj
congrats!
:)
nice to hear that
:)
wish you a happy married life!
