of comments, blogs and writing.....

I heard this somewhere about this amateur painter who went to a world famous painter and showed the great artist his latest painting.
Our man asked the great painter: "Sir, this is my painting..Is there any future for me in this field?"
The great painter, who happened to be a kind man, told him, using the softest words possible that the painting didn't show much promise, and mybe our man would do well in some other field......
A little crestfallen on hearing that, our man then took out, what looked like a very old paper and opened it out to show yet another painting to the great painter.
He then asked:"Sir, does this painting hold any hope for its painter?"
The great artist was all surprise and told our man that the painting that he was currently looking at was simply the work of a budding genius, unlike the one previously shown....
the great painter said :"With some help, this painter will go places!!!"
And what did our man reply to that??
"Sir, If only I had met you 40 years back!!!. Yes, that was my painting, done 40 years back...my teacher told me that it was no good..............and i simply stopped practising.....!!!!"
Has this happened to you people?
It has happened to me...no, i am not even trying to suggest that i am a budding super writer genius!!!What I am trying to say is that I sincerely doubt if any magazine..let alone the school magazine or the college magazine would publish my scribblings....because i prefer to write them my way...no botheration about grammar and such things.....just free flow of expression and thoughts!!!
I have submitted my scribblings during school and college....did they get published? No..simply no....Such things can go a long way in dampening ones's spirits!!!
Worse still, I once submitted my poem(Notebook Scribblings Part III ) to an ed-board representative in college....and what did that person do? They made a nice little copy of that, fcourse with words changed here and there.....and submitted it in their name......HAH!! If Imitation could be called the best form of flattery!!!
But , do I stop scribbling because i cannot find a way to share my scribblings with others?? No, I didn't..thankfully i didn't...i kept scribbling and filing all my notebook scribbles in a file....as stupid as they may be..my scribblings are special to me...somewhere down the line, I stumble upon this amazing thing called blog..and i start putting up my scribblings!!!
Now , what has all this got to do with the topic of this post , you say? Well, I just want to say that I have much more encouragement here , in my blog, through all your comments, than anywhere else........
That is the wonder of your comments.. I know you came here and read through my scribbling....
How? Through your comments!!!!
That to me is a big encouragement....

Your 'scribblings' are in simple english, but it means a lot !! Keep u the good work. Somehow, u inspire me to try my hand at wordplay too !!

If you ask me, the best thing would be not to worry about what others might think of your work. There might be N people who like your work (with N being a very small number in my case) and M people who don't like it (which I'm sure you would have seen is a big number in my case). That being the case, I still write the way I do, cuz I like it and will continue to do so till I get tired. To quote Rudyard Kipling's famous poem, "If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:".. says a lot doesn't it? If you haven't read the entire poem, drop a line thro messenger (u shud fine the link on my blog) or drop a line thro the shoutbox and I'll send u the link. I'll stop here for fear of boring you to death.

you are off to a good start here....keep blogging.

Comments definitely serve as a morale booster. But the fact is that only bloggers seem to understand this truth. a significant chunk of the blog readers could be non-bloggers and some of them shy away from comments. These people are similar the readers of newspapers. The blog is meant to be a medium for 2 way interaction and I hope everyone realizes this at the earliest.

sorry for oocupying air time here.
